About the Foundation
What started as a fire district conversation is now a 501(c)(3) supporting both the Keizer Fire District and the Keizer Police Department.
The idea for the foundation was first raised during a Keizer Fire District board meeting. Directors saw a steady list of community needs — equipment, programs, and outreach — that public funding alone would never fully cover. A separate nonprofit could rally the community and fill those gaps.
The Keizer Fire Foundation received 501(c)(3) status in June 2017. From 2017 through 2025 it focused on supporting the fire district and community safety projects across Keizer.
In 2025, the mission expanded to include the Keizer Police Department. The organization was renamed the Keizer Public Safety Foundation and today supports both fire and police — and the neighborhoods they serve.
